According to a report by Starr FM, the Manhyia Palace has rejected the letter of apology written and delivered to them by renowned clergyman, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills.
Bishop Dag Heward Mills, the founder and leader of Lighthouse Chapel International was heard in an audio saying the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has no legacy left for his people but rather he will be remembered for his lavish parties and funerals.
“I am deeply saddened that a message I shared at a conference, nearly 20 years ago, has been taken out of its context and circulated by persons who have previously declared that they will maliciously cause our churches in Kumasi to be closed down”, it stated.
Not only does he extol Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as the Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) but also noted his achievement in building about 788 schools since he ascended the throne.
He, therefore, apologized for the content of the video.
“I deeply regret that my words spoken almost 20 years ago have offended this honourable institution, which has worked tirelessly for many years to make Ghana and the world a better place for all of us to live in.”
However, it is obvious the Manhyia Palace is not satisfied with his apology as the preacher made the statement in public as the report revealed that Bishop Dag Heward-Mills’ letter was not accepted as they have requested him to render the apology publicly.
