In an emerging report, about 75 young Nigerians within the age bracket of 22 to 36 were apprehended by Ghana police for over-involvement in online romance scam.
A statement released by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ghana Police Services, Okyere Boapeh, said;
“The suspected scammers were captured based on intelligence tip off gathered by the police Headquarters.”
The police boss said police intelligence showed that criminal activities had been going on in Iron City which is a suburb in Kasoa.
He further said that a team of police operatives was dispatched to the area where the 26 suspects were subsequently arrested in a house. Also, Deputy Police commander Amaning Oduro said they recovered about 31 laptops, 26 mobile phones, five machetes and substances suspected to be Indian hemp from the suspect’s custody.
He said the suspects were currently under investigation and those found culpable would be prosecuted in court.
